Below you will see what is called a heat map. A team of online marketers got together and wanted to know the natural instinct of sales. What I mean by that is they wanted to track what the human eye was attracted to the most (online) they got a few hundred people and set them up with a retinal scanning device and then they gave them a list of a few thousand words and phrases to search in Google. As they did this the machine tracked where their eyes went and what they clicked on.

As you can see the websites that is ranked #1 got the most attention without a doubt. Number 2 through 4 got a few as well but not nearly as much as #1. Don’t get me wrong you can still get a lot of traffic just for being on the front page but if you are really trying to dominate your market then your goal need to be #1.
